Terms and Conditions

Customer making the referral


  1. The Refer a Friend Amazon Gift Card offer (the ‘Offer’) is only available to existing Santander customers who are 18 years or over and not employees of Santander (‘You’) who recommend someone else such as a friend or family member (‘Friend’) to switch from a current account not held with Santander to a Santander 1|2|3, 1|2|3 Lite, Everyday, Select, or Private Current Account through CASS, the Current Account Switch Service, (‘Current Account Switch’).
  2. You need to request and obtain a separate unique referral code (‘Code’) for each Current Account Switch you recommend through santanderreferafriend.co.uk by giving us your name, date of birth, postcode, and email address. Once issued a Code will remain valid until 18 June 2019. It’s not possible to request a Code by any other means. You will need to give a separate unique Code for each friend you recommend.
  3. We will only issue You a maximum of five Codes in each period of 12 months. All five codes will be issued to You at the same time and can’t be reissued.
  4. You cannot recommend yourself through the Offer.
  5. The Friend must apply for the Current Account Switch by 18 June 2019 and to be to be valid a Code must have been generated prior to the date the Friend applied for the Current Account Switch.
  6. The Friend will receive a separate unique reference number (URN) for each Current Account Switch and once they have completed the Current Account Switch they can claim the two £50 Amazon Gift Cards no later than 18 June 2019 through santanderreferafriend.co.uk using the URN and the unique Code you gave them (a ‘Claim’). Please note only a Friend can make a Claim and it’s not possible to make a Claim by any other means.
  7. Each Claim will be checked to establish whether the Friend has successfully completed the Current Account Switch and that all the other conditions have been met.
  8. If a Friend completes the Current Account Switch and all other conditions have been met then You (provided your Friend uses the Code you pass to them) and the Friend will each be sent a £50 amazon.co.uk gift card. If the Claim has not been successful because not all conditions have been met, then You and the Friend will each receive a separate email informing you both of this and providing you with common reasons as to why the Claim may not have been successful. You or the referred Friend can also call us if you are still unclear as to why the Claim has not been successful. Please note that beyond this we will not enter into any discussions regarding the Claim and in no circumstances will we be drawn into any discussions between You and the Referred Friend regarding the Claim.
  9. Each successful Claim will only be rewarded by a single £50 Amazon Gift Card sent to You (provided your Friend uses the Code you pass to them) and a single £50 Amazon Gift Card sent to the Friend per each Current Account Switch, even if the Friend switches to a joint account.
  10. Each Code and URN can only be used once to make a Claim, so the Friend will need to use the separate Code you passed to them together with the matching URN for each Current Account Switch. If the same Code and/or URN is used for multiple Claims, then only the first Claim will be successful and all other multiple Claims using the same Code and/or URN will be declined.
  11. The Offer is expected to run from 18 February 2019 until 18 May 2019 however we reserve the right to withdraw the Offer and to not to issue any further Codes at any time and without notice to You.
  12. The Offer is subject to these conditions and each Current Account Switch will be only rewarded by sending a £50 Amazon Gift Card to the Friend and You. There is no cash alternative available.

Customer who has been referred


  1. If you would like to participate in the Refer-a-Friend Amazon Gift Card offer (the ‘Offer’) then you will need to have received a valid unique referral code (‘Code’) from a qualifying person (‘Referring Friend’) who has recommended you to switch from a current account not held with Santander to a Santander 1|2|3, 1|2|3 Lite, Everyday, Select, or Private Current Account through CASS, the Current Account Switch Service, (‘Current Account Switch’). You will also need to be 18 years of age or over and have made a successful application for the Current Account Switch before 18 June 2019. Please note your current account not held with Santander must be closed through the Current Account Switch.
  2. Once you have completed the Current Account Switch, you can claim the two £50 Amazon Gift Cards (one for you and one for the Referring Friend) no later 18 June 2019 through santanderreferafriend.co.uk. You will need to provide your name, postcode, email, the unique reference number (URN) for the Current Account Switch (which is shown on the letter you receive from the Santander Account Switcher Service) and the Code you received from the Referring Friend (a ‘Claim’). If you are unable to locate the URN number you can contact our switching team on 0800 085 2202 during opening hours: Monday to Friday 8am to 7pm or Saturday 9am to 2pm. Please note only you can make aClaim and it’s not possible to make a Claim by any other means.
  3. Each Claim will be checked to establish whether you have successfully completed the Current Account Switch using the data you have provided and also to confirm that all the other conditions have been met.
  4. When You make a Claim the Referring Friend will receive an email confirming if they qualify for a £50 Amazon Gift Card, and will therefore know that You switched an account to Santander. If the Claim has not been successful, because not all conditions have been met then You and the Referring Friend will each receive a separate email informing you both of this and providing you with common reasons as to why the Claim may not have been successful. You or the Referring Friend can also call us if you are still unclear as to why the Claim has not been successful. Please note that beyond this we will not enter into any further discussions regarding the Claim and in no circumstances will we be drawn into any discussions between You and the Referring Friend regarding the Claim.
  5. If you have successfully completed the Current Account Switch and all the other conditions have been met, then You and the Referring Friend person whose Code you used to make the Claim will each be sent a £50 Amazon Gift Card.
  6. Each Code and URN can only be used once to make a Claim and so you will need to use the separate Code passed to You by the Referring Friend together with the matching URN for each Current Account Switch. If the same Code and/or URN is used for multiple Claims then only the first Claim will be successful and all other multiple Claims using the same Code and/or URN will be declined.
  7. Each successful Claim will only be rewarded by a single £50 Amazon Gift Card sent to you and the Referring Friend whose Code you used to make the Claim, even if you switch to a joint account. If the Current Account Switch relates to a joint account then the first person on the account who makes a successful Claim will be sent the £50 Amazon Gift Card.
  8. The Offer is subject to these conditions and there is no cash alternative available.
